Reincarnated starring Norman Tsui was a classic in Hong Kong TV history. Writer Huang Yi penned the script of this 1979 TV swordplay drama, and the popularity of the TV series prompted him to create the novel and also led to the Shaw Brothers' Bastard Swordsman series, which was based on the same story. The 2000 TV remake, titled New Reincarnation, features rising action star Wu Jing, who impressed cinema lovers with his stunning action in SPL, as well as popular actress He Mei Tian and Li Xiaoran from Dragon Tiger Gate.
The story of New Reincarnation, like its predecessors, revolves around the adventure of Yun Feiyang (Wu Jing). An orphan adopted by the Wudang martial arts school, Yun is forbidden to learn martial arts from any of the Wudang disciples according to the school's rules. However, a mysterious man teaches him martial arts every night, and Yun unnoticeably becomes a great swordsmen, just as great dangers descend on the martial world.
